Wa: Nine footballers out of the lot sets to join Inspired Talent Academy following a successful football scouting tournament in the region
The Upper West Region welcomed officials from renowned Football Academy, Inspired Talent Academy to the region for a one day football scouting tournament in quest for expectional talents from the region
The event was in collaboration with division two side Wa Power SC alongside numerous divisional clubs in the region for the exercise at the Wa Malik Jabir Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 8th
The motive of the occasion was to select expectional talents from the region in to one of fastest growing football academy’s in the country
Over hundred footballers between the ages of sixteen to twenty-two years from all the divisional and lower clubs in the region paraded themselves at the Wa Malik Jabir Sports Stadium as early as 7:00am fully prepared and equipped enough for the big task at hand on the day
After a brief introduction from dignitaries and inspiration words from officials from the collaborated parties, registration of participating players took place and shortly after that came the long awaited moment, football time
Inspired Talent Academy came down to the region with two footballing scouts from the Academy to supervise the proceedings and to afford them the chance to spot and pick from the lot at the end of the event
Guest and chief scout Joao Henrique and supporting scout Ebernezer were those present at the Wa Malik Jabir to do the scouting
The participating teams were paired against each other in four different sessions as the scouts watch on
Expectional talents from each of sessions were picked among the participating clubs
After four sessions of practices at the Wa Malik Jabir Sports Stadium, sixteen players were selected and were further trimmed down to nine players after playing another game against non-selected side
The luckiest among the lot to have been selected from the region were;
Sadick Adams, Nuhu Taslim, Umar Marizuk, Seidu Arimeyaw, Saeed Musah, Tang A Amos, Eugene Antiere, Ali Kamaldeen and Iddrisu Malik
The nine players are expected to leave the region any time soon to join the Academy for further assessment at the hands of world class coaches with ultra modern facilities at their disposal
The footballing scouts were amused by the level competitiveness and talents showcased on the pitch from the players
They showed appreciate to the people of region, the clubs, players and the management of Wa Power SC for the opportunity afforded them and vowed to return sometime for such productive exercise
Chief Eexcutive Officer for Wa Power SC, Ibrahim Tinny and his management presented two hand woven smocks to the guests for the job well done
