U23 Africa Qualifier: Disappointing as Black Meteors draw at home against Algeria
Ghanaians left disappointed after the Black Meteors played out a 1-1 stalemate at home against Algeria in the U23 Africa Qualifier on Friday afternoon
With stakes high for the team, much were expected from coach Ibrahim Tanko’s charges on the day but it turned out disappointing as they now face uphill task of qualifying
After half an hour into the match, the Algerians broke the virginity of the coontest through Zorgane Adem as the visitors took center stage and control of the cagey encounter
Black Meteors responded very well to the setback and were awarded a penalty four minutes after conceding the goal but captain Yaw Yeboah missed the glorious chance to pull parity before the break
The visitors went into the break with a 1-0 advantage at the Accra Sports Stadium
Coach Ibrahim Tanko made two early substitutions in the second half of the game to rejuvenate his side as they chase the equalizer
Following a more convincing display in the second half of the match, the Black Meteors were awarded their second spot kick of the match but was this time dispatched calmly by striker Dauda Mohammed in the 63rd minute of the match
The game ended 1-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the U23 Africa Qualifier as the return leg is set to be played on Tuesday, September 10th in Algers
