2020CHAN QUALIFIER: Déjà vu as Black Stars B Lost To Burkina Faso

It was more or less a repeat of the old story as Black Stars B got beaten at home by Burkina Faso in the first leg of the 2020 African Nations Championship qualifier.

A 94th minute goal by Stephane Yannick Pognongo made the difference as Burkina Faso shock Black Stars B at the Bab Yara Sports Stadium.

There was high expectations from coach Maxwell Konadu and his charges but it turned out to be the same fate that befell Ghana two years ago when Burkina qualified at the expense of Ghana.

They played a rather lackluster 0-0 draw in the first half, finding it very difficult to control possession, lacking dynamism in midfield whilst allowing Burkina Faso to make a few incursions.

Proceedings in the second half remained pretty much the same even with substitutions until Burkina broke the deadlock in the dying embers of the game.

An uphill task awaits them as they’ll play away to Burkina who’s having all the advantage.
